Wonderland Maker Studio started with a simple question and a kid standing at the edge of what came next.

I was dating a woman who had a couple of boys. One of them was getting ready to graduate school, and like a lot of kids at that age, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do next. No clear plan. No big passion lighting him up yet.

I tried sharing the skills I knew.
Welding.
Electrical work.
Carpentry.

Good trades. Solid paths.
But nothing really clicked.

One day, almost as a throwaway idea, I asked him,
“How about a 3D printer?”

He shrugged and said, “Sure.”

So I bought one knowing absolutely nothing about them.

What happened next surprised both of us.

We learned together.
We failed together.
We figured things out, watching prints fail, fixing settings, trying again. Slowly, things started to work. Designs turned into real objects you could hold in your hand. Ideas turned into something tangible.

That spark that moment when curiosity turns into confidence changed everything.

What started as a way to help a kid find direction became something much bigger.

The printer didn’t just make parts.
It created opportunity.
It built skills.
It showed that learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom and that sometimes all it takes is the right tool at the right moment.

From that first printer grew Wonderland Maker Studio.

Today, the studio designs and creates custom medals, dragons, trophies, and meaningful keepsakes but at its core, it still stands for the same thing it did on day one:

Giving people especially kids a chance to discover what they’re capable of.

Every piece that comes out of Wonderland Maker Studio carries that origin with it. A reminder that that you don’t need a perfect plan to start just curiosity, patience, and the willingness to learn alongside someone else.

That’s how it began.
